Real Madrid eye AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit
Real Madrid are reportedly considering AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit as a midfield addition. Smit, 20, is valued at around €60 million.
The Spanish club have already secured Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella. Jose Mourinho has identified midfield reinforcement as a top priority for next season.
Mario Cortegana reported that Smit’s technical quality, composure and influence from midfield have attracted serious attention from Real Madrid’s recruitment department. Jorge Mendes, who represents AZ Alkmaar in the deal, could play a decisive role given his long‑standing relationship with Mourinho and Real Madrid.
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez and West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes are also being monitored, with Fernandes reportedly more likely to join Manchester United. Real Madrid must choose between a proven world‑class midfielder and a younger prospect who could develop into a cornerstone.
