Real Madrid inquire about Julian Alvarez amid €150m talks
Journalist Patrick Berger reported Real Madrid have made enquiries about Argentine forward Julian Alvarez. Atletico Madrid indicated they would discuss a transfer if an offer around €150 million is presented. Barcelona remain interested, having reportedly submitted a €100 million proposal that was rejected.
President Florentino Perez previously hinted the club could make a major move for a player valued at about €150 million. He said, “I’m going to make an offer to a Champions League club soon, on Tuesday, which will be the biggest payment Real Madrid has ever made for a player, at least 150 million.” Other names linked to the €150m budget included midfielders Vitinha and Joao Neves and Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise.
Real Madrid intensifies campaign against Barcelona over Negreira case
Berger noted that Real Madrid hold the Atletico Madrid striker in extremely high regard. Atletico Madrid are prepared to negotiate only at a much higher figure, matching the €150 million valuation cited by Perez. With Barcelona’s €100 million bid turned down, Real Madrid may be the only club capable of meeting the higher price tag. The development adds a new dimension to the rivalry between the Spanish giants over Alvarez.
