Real Madrid Nears Completion of Bernardo Silva Signing
Real Madrid are close to finalising the transfer of Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano. Romano marked the news with his trademark “here we go” tag on Thursday night. The agreement between the player and the club is in place, pending only formalities.
Jose Mourinho reportedly made a special request to bring Silva to the Santiago Bernabeu and played a crucial role in the negotiations. Real Madrid moved quickly to stay ahead of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the pursuit, finalising a two‑year contract with an option for a third. The signing becomes the club’s third summer acquisition after Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries.
Florentino Perez will sign Silva as a free agent, adding creative quality to a midfield described as lacking attacking depth. Silva’s experience is expected to allow a quick adaptation to Real Madrid’s style of play. Rodri, Silva’s former teammate, said the Portuguese player “can play in any club” and is “physically perfect”.
Photographs accompanying the announcement were taken by Denis Doyle and Justin Setterfield. The visuals were released together with the club’s official statement on the transfer.
