Real Madrid secures Bellingham's lead until 2031 with new contract
While Real Madrid was already holding talks about Jude Bellingham's future at the end of last season, the Spanish sports newspaper AS now confirms that the English national player is tied to the club until June 30 2031. The early contract signing includes a salary increase that recognises the performances of the 23‑year‑old.
Contract details and financial terms
The original contract ran until 2029; the new term extends it by two years. Bellingham's signing with Real Madrid was completed in 2023 from Dortmund for around €103 million fixed, which corresponds to about R$ 589 million. Additionally, variable bonuses of up to €30.9 million were agreed, so the total amount can reach approximately €133.9 million.
Performance and role under Mourinho
Since José Mourinho's return in June, Bellingham has already scored three goals and provided three assists in the current season and often plays behind striker Kylian Mbappé, which gives him more freedom in attack. In 14 matches he recorded four goals and six assists – ten direct goal involvements, which corresponds to roughly 77 % of his total involvement in the previous season's campaign.
By comparison, he scored eight goals and five assists in 40 games across all competitions in the 2025/26 season. The increased offensive involvement comes after a shoulder operation on July 16 2025, which Bellingham has successfully rehabilitated.
Real Madrid lock in Bellingham until 2031 as club eyes leadership role
Real Madrid currently sits in fourth place in La Liga, six points behind league leaders Barcelona. Despite the lack of a title in the 2025/26 season, the management sees Bellingham as the future team captain, after veterans such as Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos and Dani Carvajal have left the squad.
The contract extension was presented as an important step in Real Madrid's internal reinforcement strategy, which already included the extension of Arda Güler. The talks about the collaboration began at the end of last season and have now led to a positive outcome.
Arda Güler turns Real Madrid into a master of counter‑play
PER statistics show that despite his physical issues, Bellingham in his second year in Madrid now regularly appears at the Santiago Bernabéu and convinces both fans and the coach of his growing leadership role.
