Real Madrid to announce Marc Cucurella signing today
Real Madrid will announce the signing of Marc Cucurella today. The 27‑year‑old Chelsea defender has agreed a long‑term contract with the Spanish club. The deal totals €60 million.
The clubs reached a verbal agreement yesterday. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the transfer and said it was expected to be official after the World Cup. Romano now indicates the announcement could come as early as today.
Real Madrid will pay Chelsea a fixed €55 million fee with €5 million in add‑ons. Chelsea have already allowed Cucurella to undergo his medical examinations. Enzo Fernandez expressed approval on social media, adding to the buzz.
Cucurella is currently with the Spanish national team for their match against Cape Verde. He is likely to start that game ahead of Alejandro Grimaldo. Real Madrid expect him to become their first‑choice left‑back next season, and a photo by George Wood/Getty Images captures the defender.
