Remo chairman slams Neymar after heated Copa do Brazil clash

In the early afternoon, a tense scene unfolded at the Copa do Brazil round‑of‑16 match between Santos and Remo, when 34‑year‑old Neymar became embroiled in a heated argument with Remo supporters, an incident reported today at 10:34.

The cup tie, already a high‑stakes encounter, took an unexpected turn when the confrontation spilled beyond the usual on‑field rivalry, adding a dramatic footnote to the Santos‑Remo clash.

Neymar, the Brazilian forward, was involved in a fierce dispute with Remo fans after the match concluded, a clash that quickly escalated into a broader altercation.

The chairman of the Brazilian club, Remo, reacted furiously, launching a sharp verbal attack on the star player and condemning his behaviour.

According to widely shared video footage on social media, the provocation began on the pitch and continued in the stadium’s underground areas, where Neymar approached Remo supporters and repeatedly shouted “eliminado,” indicating they had been eliminated.

The exchange led to a heated confrontation despite fences separating the two delegations, with both sides shouting loudly at each other.

Remo chairman Antônio Carlos Teixeira told Portal O Fluxo, “Santos does not need this at all. And that scoundrel Neymar, who is idolised by many children, came here to provoke us. We are guilty of glorifying these crooks.”

Neymar has been a Santos player since January 2025, having progressed through the club’s youth academy, and his contract is set to run until the end of this calendar year.
