Rennes target Sunderland forward Eliezer Mayenda

Stade Rennais FC are reportedly targeting Sunderland AFC forward Eliezer Mayenda (21) in the summer transfer window. Mayenda, who is under contract until 2030, recorded two goals and one assist in 24 appearances across all competitions this season in England.

Foot Mercato reported that Rennes management, known as Les Rouge et Noir, value Mayenda's versatility. The club could move quickly to try to prise him away from the Black Cats.

Despite a disappointing season, Mayenda's output of two goals and one assist in 24 matches is documented. He remains a highly rated player on the transfer market because of his promising potential.

Rennes are keen to strengthen their squad ahead of the Europa League campaign. The club views Mayenda as a potential addition to boost their attacking options.

Since the transfer window opened, Rennes have already signed three new players. Those arrivals are Gonçalo Oliveira (19), Issa Soumaré (25) and Adrien Thomasson (32).

Mayenda's contract with Sunderland runs until 2030, which could affect his transfer fee. Rennes' interest suggests they are prepared to meet the financial demands.

The forward's ability to play across the front line is highlighted by Rennes scouts. Such versatility aligns with the club's tactical plans for European competition.

The information was published by GFFN journalist Léo Aschi.
