Roma and Napoli vie for Atletico Madrid’s Molina

Roma and Napoli have both signalled serious interest in Atlético Madrid’s Argentine winger Molina, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season. The 1998‑born player, who previously spent two seasons with Udinese, could return to Italy as the clubs battle for Serie A supremacy. Roma appear intent on strengthening the right‑back position without shifting Wesley from the left flank, where he has impressed this season. The Giallorossi have their sights on Fiorentina’s Dodo as well as Molina. Napoli are equally keen on both players, setting up a transfer duel between the two central‑southern clubs aiming for the top spot in Serie A. Their pursuit underscores Napoli’s ambition to reinforce the squad ahead of the final league push. Manna has made moves to please Allegri and has gathered information about Molina, a player the Tuscan coach already wanted at Juventus. The director’s exploratory chat revealed that Roma have also recently made moves for the Argentine winger. La dello Sport reported that during their exploratory chat, the Azzurri sporting director discovered Roma’s recent activity for Molina. A similar pattern emerged weeks earlier with Dodo, one of the first names Gasperini mentioned. Molina’s contract with Atlético Madrid expires and he is eager for a change of scenery. The 1998‑born winger would gladly return to Italy, recalling his two‑season spell with Udinese. Napoli could play the Olivera card, which Simeone favours, but both players are occupied with the World Cup, so a possible swap deal will be discussed after the tournament. Roma therefore hopes to use this time to formulate the right offer to convince Atlético Madrid to sell Molina. Fiorentina value Dodo between €15 million and €17 million, but Trigoria is convinced they can lower the price by leveraging his expiring contract. The club believes the reduced fee would make the transfer more attractive for interested Serie A sides.
