Europa League

Roma to face Brighton at AMEX Stadium on aug 8

AS Roma, under manager Gian Piero Gasperini, will meet Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium on 8 August at 4:00 PM Italian time, a friendly that forms part of their preseason schedule. The encounter is the Giallorossi’s third English fixture this summer.

The club’s summer programme also includes a training camp in Trigoria and a retreat in Wales, designed to prepare the squad for the new campaign. These activities complement a series of scheduled friendlies across the United Kingdom.

Roma’s England tour will feature two earlier matches, against Cardiff on 1 August and Newport on 4 August, before the Brighton clash. The August 1 and August 4 fixtures complete the club’s third English appearance of the preseason.

The Brighton friendly carries symbolic weight, as Roma return to the Seagulls’ ground two years after their Europa League round‑of‑16 meeting. That previous tie saw the English side host the return leg at home.

During that Europa League encounter, Daniele De Rossi was named on the Roma bench, while Brighton secured a 1‑0 victory in the second leg. The narrow win was insufficient to overturn the earlier result.

Roma had dominated the first leg at the Olimpico, winning 4‑0 to seal quarter‑final qualification. The decisive margin turned the return match into a formality.

The upcoming test against Brighton is described as a significant assessment of fitness and tactical mechanisms ahead of the new season. Gasperini expects the match to fine‑tune his squad before competitive fixtures commence.
