Ronaldinho signs with Serie C side Ravenna FC

Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, aged 46, has signed a contract with Ravenna FC, a Serie C club, and will be registered as a player. The club plans to unveil him at an event in Miami later this week. Ronaldinho ended his active playing career in 2015, formally retiring from professional football. That decision marked the conclusion of his regular competitive appearances. Over the subsequent eleven years he has taken part in charity matches, keeping his name on the pitch in occasional benefit games. These appearances have been limited to non‑competitive fixtures. Ravenna FC owner Ignazio Cipriani is a personal friend of Ronaldinho. Cipriani, described as eccentric and ambitious, oversees the club’s operations. Cipriani has publicly stated his goal of guiding Ravenna FC to Serie A as quickly as possible. The ambition drives the club’s strategic planning. The club competed in Serie D last season before earning promotion to Serie C. This upcoming season will be Ravenna’s first experience of professional football. During the Miami event the club will clarify whether Ronaldinho will return to playing, assume an advisory role, or serve primarily as a marketing figure. His registration as a player guarantees his inclusion on the squad list. The signing has already generated media attention as Ravenna prepares for its inaugural Serie C campaign. The move adds a high‑profile dimension to the club’s ambitions.
