Ronaldo breaks the silence as Spanish press reacts to his statement

Cristiano Ronaldo broke the silence about his sudden departure from the National Team training camp by publishing a statement, fulfilling the promise made after leaving the camp in Denmark. In the text, the Portuguese captain explained that coach Jorge Jesus did not keep his word to give him 30 minutes against Norway.

Reaction of the Spanish press

In Spain, Diario AS and the newspaper reacted immediately to CR7's statement. The Diario AS article, titled «Cristiano breaks the silence», was published right after reading Ronaldo's version, while it released the piece «Cristiano Ronaldo explains his departure from Portugal».

Both outlets highlighted Ronaldo's accusation that the manager made him warm up and then left him out of the match, claiming that this violated the trust between player and coach.

Consequences and possible sanctions

Ronaldo apologized for his behavior in Norway and acknowledged that he should not have left the camp, stating he is willing to accept a sanction from the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). «The FPF must assess and sanction the consequences of my actions», wrote the forward.

According to the FPF’s Disciplinary Regulations, a player who abandons or misses a training session or match without justification can be suspended for one to six months and, if professional, fined between 500 and 1 000 euros.

Ronaldo himself emphasized that, as team captain, his conduct carries an aggravating weight and that the sanction should not be mitigated.

The reaction of the Spanish media reinforces international attention on the case, with Diario AS and the a analyzing not only the facts presented, but also the possible disciplinary repercussions for the player.

So far, the Portuguese Federation has not yet released an official decision, leaving Ronaldo’s future in the national team uncertain.
