Salah’s quiet Turkish debut contrasts his Liverpool legend
Mohamed Salah made his first appearance for Trabzonspor on Saturday, entering the Super Liga clash against Kasimpasa in the 58th minute. The match, played in Turquía, finished 1‑1, and the debut was captured in an AP Photo/Khalil Hamra image updated at 21:11 CEST.
The Egyptian captain left Liverpool at the end of the season after a career that turned him into a legend of the club and of Egipto, highlighted by reaching the World Cup round of 16 for the first time in the nation’s history. He delayed choosing a new club until August, when he surprisingly accepted Trabzonspor’s offer.
Salah replaced Metehan Mimaroglu after Kasimpasa had just equalised through Adrian Benedyczak’s penalty in the 55th minute. He attempted a volley that went wide and produced several chances, notably a diagonal run from the wing that created an opportunity. Noah Saviolo had joined Trabzonspor earlier in the 43rd minute.
