Spain beat Peru 3-1 in final World Cup 2026 warm-up
Spain’s national team defeated Peru 3-1 in Puebla with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal, Pedri and an own goal by Pedro Gallese. The match served as the final World Cup 2026 warm-up fixture.
Oyarzabal opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, followed by Pedri’s strike in the 45th. Peru pulled one back through an own goal by Gallese in the 67th minute, but Spain restored their lead through Pedri’s second goal in the 78th minute.
Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed no new injuries were sustained during the match. He stated the squad would arrive fully fit for the June 15 debut against Cabo Verde.
De la Fuente emphasized squad depth, noting the bench provided impactful contributions. He highlighted Pedri’s performance as a key factor in the victory.
Peru’s coach did not comment on tactical adjustments following the defeat. The match marked the last international test before Spain’s World Cup 2026 opener.
Spain will face Cabo Verde in their first World Cup 2026 group-stage match on June 15. The team has already finalized preparations for the tournament’s opening fixture.
