Stijn Schaars signs contract extension with PSV until mid-2029

PSV announced today that 42‑year‑old trainer Stijn Schaars has signed a new deal extending his stay at the Eindhoven club until mid‑2029, confirming his role as head of Jong PSV after a strong debut season. The club highlighted his seventh‑place finish in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie and nomination for the Trainer of the Season award.

The agreement runs until the middle of 2029, securing Schaars' future at PSV Eindhoven. PSV described the extension as a reward for his strong debut season.

Schaars will continue as the head coach of Jong PSV, the club's reserve side competing in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. He previously guided PSV's O16, O17 and O18 squads and served as assistant to Peter Bosz with the first team.

In his first year as senior coach, Schaars led Jong PSV to a seventh‑place finish in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. The campaign earned him a nomination for the Trainer of the Season award.

Reflecting on the new deal, Schaars said: "Ik ben erg blij met deze contractverlenging. PSV is altijd een goede werkgever geweest voor mij. Ik heb geen moment getwijfeld om hier verder te gaan". He added, "Het voelt hier gewoon heel goed."

PSV said the extension aligns with its vision that places talent development at the core of the organization. The club noted that maintaining continuity in the youth coaching staff supports its long‑term objectives.
