Thibaut Courtois wants to finish career at Real Madrid

Thibaut Courtois said he would like to finish his playing career at Real Madrid. He said he is relaxed about his contract situation. He also addressed the possibility of working again with Jose Mourinho. Courtois explained Real Madrid’s policy of renewing contracts year‑by‑year after a player turns thirty. He noted his current deal runs to 2027 and that continued performance would secure extensions. He added the club will eventually consider a successor. Courtois said communication with Jose Mourinho has already taken place. He recalled Mourinho benching him in a match against Everton after crossing errors, then praised his subsequent performance against West Ham. He described Mourinho as a direct manager and said their relationship remains good. Courtois mentioned that many squad members are focused on the World Cup and that the club takes that into account. He also referenced a call from Xabi Alonso last year after his signing. Photo credit goes to Jurij Kodrun.
