Thomas Tuchel says England will push against Costa Rica

Thomas Tuchel said England will increase physical intensity for their final warm‑up against Costa Rica before the World Cup 2026. He described the upcoming match as a physical push with higher intensity and style. England defeated New Zealand 1‑0 in the previous warm‑up on Saturday. Harry Kane scored the only goal in the win over New Zealand. The Three Lions will meet Costa Rica on Wednesday and then hold a behind‑closed‑doors training game on Thursday. After Thursday they travel to their base in Kansas for the tournament. Tuchel outlined plans to give more minutes to players who need them, including the Arsenal quartet of Declan Rice, Noni Madueke, Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze. All four joined the squad late after the Champions League final at the end of May. He noted no injury complaints after the New Zealand match and expects players to feature 60 to 70 minutes. Tuchel said the pre‑camp has been very relaxed, with afternoons off for players to reconnect with friends and family. A barbecue was held and an evening invited relatives, creating a positive energy in the camp. He added England are not the top favourites, but view themselves as competitors who will focus on effort and intensity.
