Tonali bidding war: Arsenal and Spurs push Newcastle to €100m

Italy international Sandro Tonali remains at the centre of a bidding war between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, with Newcastle United reportedly refusing to accept less than €100m. Reports claim Spurs made an opening bid of £75m (circa €87m) last week, which Newcastle rejected. UK state Arsenal are preparing a new proposal as they pursue the midfielder. Newcastle have now set their minimum acceptable offer at €100m (£86m).

Arsenal are viewed as Tonali’s preferred destination, with the Premier League winners also in the race. The Magpies’ valuation reflects Tonali’s rising market value, boosted by his strong performances since joining for €60m from Milan in 2023.

The Rossoneri retain a 10 per cent sell-on clause from Tonali’s Newcastle transfer, meaning any fee above €100m would generate additional revenue for Milan. Tonali, 26, has scored three goals and provided seven assists in 53 competitive games for Newcastle this season.

Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham offer an Italian coaching link, while Arsenal’s pursuit aligns with their recent Premier League title and Champions League Final appearance. Tonali began his career at Brescia’s youth academy before Milan paid €19.3m to sign him in 2020.
