Tyrone Fonville spoke on the VoetbalPrimeur Studio Oranje podcast about his younger brother Deveron Fonville’s rapid rise, noting that Deveron has become a starter for NEC this season and is now representing Curaçao at the World Cup, while Tyrone admits he has been repeatedly moved to tears.
In the Studio Oranje episode, Tyrone Fonville expressed pride in his sibling’s achievements and described the emotional impact of following Deveron’s progress. He said the speed of the development felt almost surreal to him.
Deveron Fonville secured a place in the NEC starting eleven this season, marking his first regular role in professional football. The Dutch club’s confidence in him reflects his rapid adaptation to senior competition.

Reflecting on a pivotal moment, Tyrone recalled the cup final against AZ, saying, "Het begon natuurlijk al met de bekerfinale tegen AZ. Ik zat in het stadion. Tranen in mijn ogen. Ik moest mijn moeder vastpakken. En kijk waar-ie nu is... Zo’n WK is wéér een stap. Ik had weer tranen in mijn ogen." He recounted watching the match from the stands and feeling an immediate surge of emotion.
The memory of gripping his mother’s hand underscores the personal significance of Deveron’s ascent. Tyrone highlighted that the World Cup appearance is another step forward for his brother. He admitted that the sight of his sibling on the global stage once again brought tears to his eyes.
