Urby Emanuelson confirms he will remain at Ajax next season
Urby Emanuelson announced on Het Oranje Café that he will continue at Ajax next season, promising to report back to the club tomorrow and to bring more clarity about the technical staff for both Ajax and Jong Ajax in the coming weeks.
Emanuelson worked last season with both Ajax’s first team and Jong Ajax. He was added to the first‑team staff by John Heitinga and remained under Grim after the coaching change.
Following the brief period with Jong Ajax under Óscar García, the Spanish coach left the club. Míchel will take over as head coach of Ajax 1 for the upcoming season.
When asked about his future, Emanuelson replied, “Nee, ik kan nog niet heel veel zeggen”. He indicated that he knows the situation but cannot disclose details yet.
This confirms his intention to stay at Ajax.
Earlier staff reshuffles saw Paul Nuijten promoted to temporary head coach of Jong Ajax after García’s interim spell at Ajax 1. Nuijten worked alongside Emanuelson in the Jong Ajax staff.
The interview took place on Het Oranje Café, a football talk show that often discusses club matters. The show’s audience will now await the promised update tomorrow.
