Valverde remains captain as Tchouameni, Camavinga face sale
Real Madrid have confirmed that midfielder Federico Valverde will remain with the club and is set to become captain next season, while Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga are identified as the midfielders most likely to be considered for sale amid Jose Mourinho’s summer transfer plans.
Jose Mourinho arrived with many transfer plans, and Real Madrid have already signed Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella.
Valverde provides intensity, ball‑carrying and tactical discipline; he is not always the most glamorous player but is essential for the team structure. He said earlier this month that he never imagined being Real Madrid captain. The club’s confidence in him is reflected in the decision to keep him.
Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga are the midfielders most likely to be on the market. Tchouameni offers defensive balance and physical presence, while Camavinga brings energy, versatility and press resistance.
Mourinho will have to choose his battles financially and tactically as the summer progresses. The possibility of selling either Tchouameni or Camavinga would represent a serious sporting decision. No offer for Valverde is expected to be entertained.
