Watford's backroom overhaul sees three exits and a fresh start

Watford have confirmed a backroom shake‑up at Vicarage Road, with first‑team coach Alberto Garrido, assistant Valon Behrami and interim manager Charlie Daniels all exiting the Championship club. Garrido, who arrived in summer 2024, announced his departure earlier this month, while Behrami leaves after a twelve‑month stint.

Alberto Garrido arrived at the club in the summer of 2024 to work alongside then‑manager Tom Cleverley. He retained his first‑team coach role under successive head coaches Paulo Pezzolano, Javi Gracia and Ed Still.

Former Watford player Valon Behrami served as assistant to sporting director Gian Luca Nani. He departs after twelve months in the role.

Charlie Daniels joined Watford as an academy coach in 2021. He was promoted to assist Ed Still when Still was appointed head coach in February. Daniels later took charge of two games on an interim basis following Javi Gracia’s departure.

Coach Dan Gosling will remain with Watford. He will assist new boss Alessio Dionisi.

Watford compete in the English Championship, the second tier of English football. The club plays its home matches at Vicarage Road.
