Westerlo have signed 22‑year‑old striker Cisse Sandra from Club, adding another graduate of the Club’s ‘Kuipje‑wortels’ pipeline to their squad, a move highlighted by head coach Jonas De Roeck. The 22‑year‑old forward joins a roster already featuring several Club‑afgestudeerden, reinforcing Westerlo’s attack for the upcoming season.
Met Cisse Sandra (22) arriving from Club, Westerlo have added another talent from the Brugse region, bolstering their recruitment campaign. The signing underscores the club’s continued focus on scouting in the Brugge area.
The 22‑year‑old striker joins a selection that already contains several Club‑afgestudeerden, and his arrival was emphasized by head coach Jonas De Roeck. De Roeck said the addition fits perfectly with the team’s tactical plans.
Earlier, Maxim De Cuyper, Romeo Vermant and Thomas Van Den Keybus made the same step via ’t Kuipje, the youth pipeline of Club that has produced many first‑team players. Their progress demonstrated the effectiveness of the academy’s development model.
"They cleared the way and set a good example during that period," said Jonas De Roeck, who oversaw Sandra’s development at Club NXT. He praised the Kuipje‑wortels system as a proven pathway to senior football.
Jonas De Roeck worked with Sandra at Club NXT, guiding his technical growth before the move to Westerlo. The coach believes Sandra’s time at Club NXT prepared him well for the challenges ahead.
The club’s scouting network remains focused on the Brugge region, aiming to uncover further prospects. Westerlo hopes to replicate the success of previous graduates from the area.
With the signing, Westerlo hopes to strengthen their attacking options for the coming season. The club expects the addition to enhance their goal‑scoring capabilities.
