Willem II's renewed bid for Calvin Twigt rebuffed by Go Ahead

🇳🇱

Calvin Twigt, the 23‑year‑old midfielder, remains under contract with Go Ahead Eagles until mid‑2028, yet Willem II have renewed their pursuit of the player. The Dutch club’s latest approach was again turned down by the Deventer side, which is not currently open to a transfer.

Twigt joined Willem II on loan during the winter break of the previous season after limited playing time at Go Ahead Eagles. At the promoted side he quickly became an undisputed starter in midfield.

Despite the loan, Twigt’s registration with Go Ahead Eagles runs until the middle of 2028. The long‑term contract gives the Deventer club leverage in any future negotiations.

Willem II had already submitted an offer for the 23‑year‑old midfielder, which Go Ahead rejected. The club’s renewed bid also failed as the Eagles declined to engage in talks.

Willem II’s midfield restructuring follows Gijs Besselink’s return to FC Twente and Mounir El Allouchi’s announced exit. Additional injuries to several midfielders have heightened the club’s urgency to sign a replacement.

Twigt suffered a knock in the playoff duel against Almere City after a hard tackle. He has not yet recovered fully and missed the first two pre‑season friendlies against Terwolde and TOP Oss, underscoring a busy Dutch transfer market where PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord also feature in recent deal reports.
