Nations League
Arda Guler absent against Italy: Turkey in trouble
While Italy gathers four points and a win against France, Turkey under Vincenzo Montella faces its third Nations League match without Arda Guler, suspended for yet another defeat, after losing 3-0 to Belgium and 4-1 to the Azzurri at home.
In the Nations League group, Turkey has lost all three matches, scoring only one goal and conceding eight. Italy, on the other hand, has accumulated four points, scoring five and conceding three.
Arda Guler was booked in the final minutes of the 3-0 loss to Belgium, receiving a yellow card that carries a suspension, and therefore he will not be able to take the field against the Azzurri.
The Turkish side is already without the two internationals from Juventus and Inter, Kenan Yildiz and Hakan Calhanoglu, who are sidelined due to injury.
Guler’s absence for Monday’s match
Montella’s Turkey will face Italy on Monday evening without Arda Guler, who is serving the suspension. The coach, Vincenzo Montella, is the Head Coach of the Turkish national team.
The last encounter between the two sides took place last Friday in Bursa, where Italy secured a 4-1 victory.
During the match on 28 September 2026, Italy’s Michael Kayode swapped shirts with Arda Guler of Turkey at the Atatürk Spor Kompleksi Matli Stadium in Bursa, TURKEY, Turkey. The UEFA calendar listed SEPTEMBER 28, 2026 for the fixture, also indicated as September 28, 2026. Vincenzo Montella, Head Coach, was captured gesturing on the pitch.
