Arsenal secures champion manager Arteta until 2030 for the future
After the international break, Arsenal has released official news: manager Mikel Arteta will remain at the club for longer, as his contract has been extended until 2030. The decision comes after the Gunners have already collected twelve points from five games this season and after a 0‑3 defeat to Brighton ended their seven‑game winning streak.
The original contract of Mikel Arteta was set to expire at the end of the season, which would have meant a possible managerial change before the summer. After the defeat to Brighton, Arsenal sought a clear answer to avoid further unsettling the squad. The Gunners therefore decided to extend the partnership with the Spanish manager.
Extension until 2030 ensures continuity
On Wednesday Arsenal officially announced that Arteta's new employment contract now runs until 2030. This formalizes the previously successful collaboration and sets a long‑term direction for the club.
Since 2019 Mikel Arteta has been on the sidelines of the Gunners, making him the longest‑serving manager in the Premier League. In 360 matches he achieved an average of 2.03 points per game, underscoring the consistency of his team.
In May of this year he finally secured the coveted league title, after the Gunners had previously finished as runners‑up three times. At the start of the season he added the Community Shield against Manchester City to the club's trophy cabinet.
Arsenal currently have twelve points from five matches, placing them second in the Premier League table. The only season defeat remains the 0‑3 loss to Brighton, which ended the seven‑game winning run.
Arteta said in a statement: "It is a privilege to devote my future to this club and continue working with extraordinary people who want the best for Arsenal." He also emphasized that the character of the club is unique and that he regards the continued joint journey as a great privilege.
