Christos Tzolis misses Nations League match against Germany

Christos Tzolis misses Nations League match against Germany

In the harsh floodlights of Thessaloniki, where a quick sprint on Thursday evening struck Christos Tzolis' right thigh, the 24‑year‑old Arsenal striker had to be replaced after just 18 minutes by Georgios Masouras. He will miss the Nations League return match on Sunday against Germany. The Greeks therefore lose an important attacker who had started in the 1‑0 win over the Germans in Augsburg in August.

The injury resulted from a sprint in which Tzolis grabbed the back of his right thigh. In the match against the Netherlands, which ended 2‑2, he was substituted in the 18th minute. Five minutes earlier, a goal he had scored was disallowed due to an offside position by teammate Evangelos Pavlidis.

In August, Tzolis had been in the starting eleven in the Greeks' 1‑0 victory over Germany in Augsburg, underscoring his importance for the upcoming return match.
