FC Volendam guards Kayne van Oevelen’s value as FC Twente eyes move
Kayne van Oevelen, the 22‑year‑old goalkeeper with 64 Volendam appearances, is attracting interest from FC Twente while his current club, freshly relegated to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, insists on a substantial transfer fee before allowing any move before his mid‑2028 contract expires.
Technical director Patrick Busby confirmed that FC Twente is among the clubs monitoring van Oevelen’s progress. He highlighted the keeper’s development over the past year in both the Keuken Kampioen Divisie and the Eredivisie.
He added that a “mooie transfersom” would make the deal a win‑win for all parties.
Volendam’s management made clear that no player will leave for a “habbekras”. Busby emphasized, "Nee, zeker niet. Geen enkele speler gaat hier voor een habbekrats weg".
Van Oevelen’s contract runs until mid‑2028, binding him to the Palingboeren for several more seasons. The club, known as the Palingboeren, dropped to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie after last season’s relegation.
Born in Zaandam, the goalkeeper joined Volendam in the summer of 2021 after being scouted from AFC Amsterdam’s youth system. Since then he has become a regular, accumulating 64 senior matches for the club.
While Volendam remains open to a sale, any departure will depend on securing a satisfactory transfer sum. Thus, negotiations will likely centre on the fee rather than the player’s willingness to move.
