Loïc Lapoussin propels Hengchen towards promotion from China

Loïc Lapoussin, former midfielder of Union SG, now plays with GX Hengchen in the Chinese second division, where he hopes to carry the team to promotion on his own after being released by Saint‑Trond last winter and is in good shape.
A new start under the eye of Felice Mazzù
Felice Mazzù, coach of the Canaries, had identified a place for Lapoussin, unlike Wouter Vrancken who did not see him. The player therefore moved to GX Hengchen to restart his career.
In China, he is one of four foreigners in a squad lacking stars, and must put his technical quality at the service of the collective.
“It was incredibly good for me to get back on the pitch. I really feel like I’ve become a professional footballer again,” Lapoussin said on his arrival.
He scored a brace against Yatai last weekend and found the back of the net again last night, bringing his total to twelve goals and seven assists in twenty‑three matches.
Hengchen currently sit in third place, seven points off the second spot, which opens the door to direct promotion.
The challenge remains to see whether he can help Hengchen, who were in the third division last season, to rise among the elite of Chinese football.
