Marseille unveil a reshuffled eleven in Istanbul before the Classique

Under the lights of the Atatürk Stadium, Olympique de Marseille is set to step onto the Istanbul turf this Thursday evening at 9 p.m., to kick off its regular‑season campaign in the Europa League with a reshuffled lineup and face the Turkish club Besiktas in a bubbling atmosphere.

Rotation imposed by the schedule

While midfielder Kondogbia and striker Ndani remain on the bench, Bruno Genesio must adjust his lineup to the pace of the schedule. The French coach indicates that certain elements need to be preserved for the upcoming commitments.

Marseille have only three points in Ligue 1, which makes the domestic league a priority three days before the Classic against Paris Saint‑Germain at the Velodrome. This situation explains the desire to rest the regular starters.

If De Lange is expected in goal, Aguerd could be left on the bench in central defence. The young Mmadi could get minutes in midfield to relieve Hojbjerg or Abdelli, while Abdallah should gain experience up front.

“We have been reflecting with the staff for some time. The important thing is that some players have not yet had the chance to show their qualities; it is time for them to get an opportunity. There will not be 11 different players compared to Rennes, but a balanced mix,” explained Bruno Genesio, also recalling the Sunday match against Paris Saint‑Germain.
