Montella quits Turkey national team: goodbye costing almost a million

Vincenzo Montella's adventure on the bench of the Turkish national team ends with a painful sporting dismissal, but also with a financial operation defined in the last hours between his lawyers and the top of the Ankara Federation. The contrast between the defeat on the field and the gesture of professional elegance is evident.

Despite a protected contract until 2028, the collapse in the Nations League pushed the federation to seek an immediate resolution. The agreement was negotiated quickly to avoid further sporting damage.

The price of goodbye

The figures reported by Fanatik indicate a total severance of €915,000. That amount corresponds exactly to five months of the monthly salary of €183,000 earned by Montella, nicknamed “Aeroplanino”.

The figure is not random: it reflects the demands of the local press and the public, who in the preceding days openly urged him to resign. The payment thus satisfies the external claims on the club.

At the same time, Montella waived a claim of €330,000 against Adana Demirspor, the club he had managed before taking over the national team. This gesture erased any economic and legal pending issues in Turkish football.

With the severance and the cancellation of the claim, Vincenzo leaves Turkey without any pending matters, bidding farewell to Istanbul after three intense years. The national team bench is now ready for an imminent transition.
