Neto returns to Juventus, boosting goalkeeper spot after Grabara injury

While Juventus seeks to cover the absence of Kamil Grabara due to a cruciate ligament rupture, the Turin club has announced the arrival of Brazilian goalkeeper Neto Murara, 37, on a contract running until June 2027. The former Barcelona player, who was without a club after terminating with Botafogo, arrives on a free transfer to contest the goalkeeper position.

A glorious past at the Bianconera

Neto had already guarded Juventus' goal between 2015 and 2017, making 22 appearances and winning two Scudettos, two Coppa Italia titles and one Italian Super Cup. His Serie A experience is once again at the disposal of manager Luciano Spalletti, who also has Guglielmo Vicario as the starter.

International career

Before his first spell in Turin, the Brazilian goalkeeper spent three seasons at Barça (2019‑2022) and also wore the shirts of Valencia and Arsenal, as well as featuring for Bournemouth in the Premier League. His time in Brazil included a recent stint at Botafogo.

Reason for the return

The club confirmed that the signing addresses the need to strengthen the position following Grabara's injury, who recently suffered a rupture of the right knee's cruciate ligament. Neto, free from his previous contract, signs until 30 June 2027, offering the squad a quality and veteran option.

Expectations in the squad

With Neto's arrival, Juventus (also referred to as JUVENTUS or Juve) now has three high‑level goalkeepers: Vicario, Grabara (injured) and the newly‑signed Neto, who will compete for the starting spot. The club expects his international experience and familiarity with the Bianconera's discipline to bring stability beneath the three posts.
