Portugal aims for Ronaldo's return in November despite suspension

After his sudden departure from the national team, the public explanations and the opening of a disciplinary procedure, Cristiano Ronaldo could quickly regain his place with Portugal. This Saturday, the announcement of a provisional suspension has nevertheless extended the crisis that has occupied the last international window.

The announcement of the provisional suspension, made on Saturday, seemed to confirm the seriousness of the dispute. It fueled the debates within the squad, while the next gatherings were already scheduled. The president of the Portuguese Federation, however, responded a few hours later, offering a different perspective.

Statement from Pedro Proença

Pedro Proença, president of the Federation, wants to bring the team together with Cristiano Ronaldo as early as November. “All, without exception, we want to be reunited in November,” he said, according to A Bola. He emphasized that this desire brings the Federation, coach Jorge Jesus, the players and Ronaldo himself closer.

The official assured that the striker wants to return to a national team to which he remains deeply attached. He indicated that the Federation intends to facilitate this reunion and that Ronaldo’s desire aligns with that of the coach. No details were given about the conditions of his return.

Ronaldo had remained on the bench during the match against Norway, then left the squad in Copenhagen before the game against Denmark. His departure raised questions about the continuation of his international career and triggered the disciplinary procedure announced on Saturday.

Jorge Jesus, the national team coach, had already indicated that he was ready to reintegrate Ronaldo as early as November, provided the player wishes to return to the squad. This stance reinforces Pedro Proença’s message, which states that the desire for reconciliation goes beyond the coach alone.

Ongoing disciplinary procedure

The disciplinary council, autonomous, must examine the facts related to Ronaldo’s departure. Pedro Proença recalled that the provisional suspension, dealt with urgently, does not yet constitute the final sanction. The procedure remains open, while the disciplinary bodies continue their work.

To date, no official return has been announced and the precise conditions of the reintegration remain uncertain. The president is preparing the sporting reunion, but the management of playing time, which was at the heart of the tensions, will need to be resolved when the captain returns.
