Record transfer for DFB shooting star Lisa Baum fulfills dream
The 19‑year‑old DFB shooting star Lisa Baum has, after a record transfer from RB Leipzig to FC Arsenal for €600,000, made a rapid leap into the German national team. She immediately became a regular for the star‑studded Gunners and has already scored two goals in five league matches.
€600,000 Transfer
In the summer, the attacking talent with a strong left foot moved from Leipzig to Arsenal, becoming one of the most expensive German players. The deal was described as one of the biggest transfers in German women's football.
"Arsenal is simply a top club. I was welcomed very warmly and felt very comfortable from day one," Baum said about her first impressions in London. The young player emphasized that the environment had made her transition easier.
Through her performances in the Premier League, she received her first call‑up from national team coach Christian Wück. "I was very, very happy about my first call‑up," the 19‑year‑old explained during her first DFB media round on Wednesday.
For the World Cup season, Baum could make her debut in the friendlies in Karlsruhe against Australia on Friday at 20:30 (ZDF) and four days later in Bremen against Japan at 17:45 (ARD). These appearances mark her entry into the DFB women.
She remembers her late brother Dennis, who died in a car accident in 2022 at the age of 17. "I have a tape on my left wrist for every game, so I always have him with me," Baum said, adding that she wants to cherish the moments with him.
