Ronaldo’s schedule shake‑up pushes Al Nassr’s league and Super Cup dates

Cristiano Ronaldo’s schedule with Al Nassr has been dramatically reshuffled, affecting both the Saudi Pro League and the Saudi Super Cup. The forward, who made his first appearance of the 2026‑27 season, now faces altered matchdays and a delayed cup timetable.

The Saudi Pro League announced adjustments to four consecutive matchdays – 8, 9, 10 and 11 – moving them later in the calendar. These changes push the fixtures that were set for September and early October into mid‑October.

Matchday 8 was originally slated for September 17‑19, before the international break when Ronaldo is expected to join Portugal for UEFA Nations League duty, but the league now places it after that window. The shift was coordinated with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation to provide extra preparation time for the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, scheduled for September 23 to October 6.

Under the revised framework, Matchday 8 moves to October 9‑11, Matchday 9 to October 15‑17, Matchday 10 to October 18‑20 and Matchday 11 to October 23, a day later than the original October 22 slot to meet mandatory rest periods. The official statement published on the league’s website on Sunday highlighted the aim of optimizing player recovery.

For Al Nassr, the new dates alter their upcoming league games against Al Diriyah on the original September 17 slot, Al Ahli on Matchday 9 and SC Neom on Matchday 10. Kick‑off times for those matches have yet to be announced, while King’s Cup and AFC Champions League Elite fixtures remain interspersed between the domestic calendar.

Saudi Super Cup reshuffled

The Saudi Super Cup, traditionally held before the league season, has also been pushed back to accommodate player rest after the 2026 World Cup. The four‑team tournament, featuring Al Nassr, Al Ahli, Al Qadsiah and Al Kholood, now schedules its semifinals for December 19‑20 and the final for December 23, 2026.

These December fixtures will represent Ronaldo’s final competitive appearances of the calendar year. Al Nassr then returns to action on February 8, 2027, when they face Al Shamal SC in the AFC Champions League Elite.
