Luis de la Fuente Leaves Real Madrid Out of Spain Squad
Luis de la Fuente announced Spain's 26-man World Cup squad. The list contains no Real Madrid players, and defender Dean Huijsen was omitted after debuting against the Netherlands last year.
Real Madrid striker Gonzalo García also missed selection. Veteran Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid) and Álvaro Morata (Como) were absent from the provisional 52-man list two years after their Euro triumph.
Despite recent injuries, winger Lamine Yamal and forward Nico Williams secured places in the squad. Both are expected to recover in time for the tournament.

Spain opens the World Cup on Monday 15 June in Atlanta against Cape Verde. Group H also includes Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, with warm‑up matches scheduled against Iraq and Peru. Central defence is anchored by Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Club) and Pau Cubarsí (Barcelona). Eric García (Barcelona) and Marc Pubill (Atlético Madrid) were chosen ahead of Huijsen. Barcelona supplies eight players, including keeper Joan García and midfielder Gavi. Fermín López (Barcelona) will miss the tournament after surgery on a right‑foot fracture.
