Luis de la Fuente Leaves Real Madrid Out of Spain Squad

Luis de la Fuente announced Spain's 26-man World Cup squad. The list contains no Real Madrid players, and defender Dean Huijsen was omitted after debuting against the Netherlands last year. Real Madrid striker Gonzalo García also missed selection. Veteran Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid) and Álvaro Morata (Como) were absent from the provisional 52-man list two years after their Euro triumph. Barcelona supplies eight players, including keeper Joan García and midfielder Gavi. Fermín López (Barcelona) will miss the tournament after surgery on a right‑foot fracture.
