Tottenham blocks Real and Barcelona with €90 million for Pedro Porro
In the corridors of Tottenham’s stadium, negotiations for right‑back Pedro Porro have taken a decisive turn: the English club is demanding close to €90 million to release the player, an amount that could deter the two Spanish giants.
Interest of the Spanish giants after the 2026 World Cup
Real Madrid and FC Barcelona would have ticked the name of Pedro Porro after his performance at the 2026 World Cup with Spain. According to Onze Mondial, both clubs are attracted by the profile of the 27‑year‑old full‑back, who shone alongside Marc Cucurella in Tottenham’s defence.
Pedro Porro, world champion, earned points during the tournament, attracting the attention of Liga recruiters. His experience in La Liga, with Girona and Real Valladolid, as well as his stint at Sporting Portugal, enhances his appeal to Spanish clubs.
Tottenham’s record price
Graeme Bailey says Tottenham would be looking for close to €90 million to open the door for Porro, whose contract runs until 2031. This price would make him the most expensive full‑back in history, surpassing the current record of Achraf Hakimi, who was sold for €67 million in 2021.
The London club, only 19th in the Premier League after six rounds, could therefore use the sum as leverage to strengthen its squad or balance its books.
FC Barcelona, already put off by the sum, regards the €90 million as excessive and is exploring other options, such as Ivan Fresneda, according to Sport. Real Madrid, for its part, has room in its budget but has not yet responded officially to Tottenham’s demands.
Despite the price, Pedro Porro would remain open to a return to Spain, whether at Barça or at Real, leaving the two rivals to continue their arguments in this case.
