Brighton’s first summer signing adds Norwegian midfield firepower

Brighton & Hove Albion have secured Norwegian international midfielder Emilie Joramo on a free transfer, announced on the club’s website this afternoon. The 24‑year‑old will officially join the Seagulls on 1 July 2026 after her contract with Swedish Hammarby IF expires next season.

The Seagulls confirmed the free transfer with a post on their official website. The announcement came as part of Brighton & Hove Albion’s summer activity.

Her current deal with Hammarby IF runs until 30 June 2026, paving the way for the July move. Hammarby IF competes in the OBOS Damallsvenskan, Sweden’s top women’s league. Brighton will integrate Joramo into their squad after the summer break.

Joramo began her senior career with Rosenborg BK in Norway before moving to Sweden’s Hammarby IF in December 2023. She has amassed 85 appearances across all competitions for the Swedish side.

On the international stage, Joramo has earned three caps for Norway. She made her senior debut for the national team in 2022.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Dario Vidošić praised the signing, saying, “Emilie has had an excellent few years in Sweden with Hammarby, challenging for the league title and reaching the Europa Cup final. She has a really strong skillset in that she’s a good ball-winner, comfortable bursting through midfield and has a good range of passing.”
