Arsenal target morgan Rogers; Villa sets £85m price

Morgan Rogers, the 23‑year‑old Aston Villa forward, is prepared to move to Arsenal if the Premier League champions meet Villa’s £85 million price tag, according to journalist Sami Mokbel. The English winger, who is currently on England duty in North America, impressed in a recent World Cup 2026 Group L win over Croatia. Mikel Arteta has identified Rogers as the type of player who can add explosive energy to Arsenal’s left wing. The north London club has reportedly completed extensive behind‑the‑scenes work to enable a swift bid once the summer transfer window opens. This groundwork, cited by the same journalist, suggests Arsenal are ready to act quickly. Rogers recently signed a contract extension with Aston Villa that runs until June 2031, giving the club strong negotiating leverage. The deal also contains a 20 % sell‑on clause that benefits Middlesbrough, meaning any future transfer fee will be reduced by that share. Villa’s board therefore faces pressure to set a price that reflects both the long‑term contract and the clause. During the previous season, Rogers recorded 16 goal contributions across all competitions for Aston Villa. His form continued on the international stage, where he featured for England in a World Cup 2026 Group L match against Croatia in Arlington, Texas on 17 June 2026. Photographer Richard Pelham captured Rogers inspecting the Dallas Stadium pitch before kickoff. Aston Villa have not yet received any formal offers for Rogers, according to club sources. Unai Emery holds all the cards and the club’s strategy is to demand a fee that matches the player’s market value, with £85 million cited as a benchmark. Without a ready replacement, Villa are prepared to block the transfer unless Arsenal meet that valuation.
