Chelsea eye Como defender Jacobo Ramon
Chelsea are reported to be keen on signing 21‑year‑old Spanish centre‑back Jacobo Ramon from Serie A side Como this summer. Ramon made 37 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring two goals, and his contract with Como runs until the summer of 2030.
Journalist Kieran Gill posted on X that the Blues are showing interest in securing Ramon's services for the off‑season. The report indicates Chelsea are targeting the Spanish defender ahead of the next campaign.
Ramon delivered a series of solid defensive displays for Como in Serie A, establishing himself as one of the best young centre‑backs in the league. Standing at 1.96 m, the defender combines height with aerial strength.
He is a good tackler who can win the ball back inside his own half. Ramon also clears lines when opponents attack and excels at playing out from the back.
A photo by Gabriele Maltinti captured Ramon in action for Como during a Serie A match against Pisa SC at Arena Garibaldi in Pisa, Italy, on 6 January 2026. The image underscores his experience in top‑flight Italian football.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso could add more bite and steel to his defensive department by signing Ramon. Alonso will need to be patient with Ramon's development before expecting the best in England.
The Spaniard is already considered good enough to fight for a regular starting place at the West London club in the coming seasons. His continued improvement could help Chelsea challenge for a top‑four Premier League finish over the next few years.
However, his contract runs until the summer of 2030, which may make a cheap acquisition difficult for Chelsea this transfer window. The club will have to weigh the long‑term benefit against immediate cost.
