Liverpool sign Rio Ngumoha as Diomande alternative
Liverpool have reportedly secured England international Rio Ngumoha, according to the Liverpool Echo. The signing arrives as the club continues to monitor Ivorian winger Yan Diomande.
Yan Diomande, 19, left Leganes for RB Leipzig last summer on a five‑year contract worth €20 million. In his debut German top‑flight season he recorded 12 goals and nine assists, prompting interest from Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
Rio Ngumoha, a full England international and former Chelsea youth player, was said to have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich last week. His current contract with Liverpool runs until 2028, making the club vulnerable to bids until he can sign a longer deal after his 18th birthday.
Liverpool officials expressed delight with Ngumoha’s progress in his two years at the club and view him as a cornerstone of the new era under Andoni Iraola. The Reds have placed no price tag on Ngumoha and are not looking to sell.
