Liverpool to secure Rio Ngumoha contract amid Bayern interest
Richard Hughes is set to open negotiations with Rio Ngumoha on a new contract. Liverpool aim to finalize the deal before Ngumoha turns 18 to fend off Bayern Munich interest.
Liverpool finished the 2025-26 season in fifth place and failed to make an impact in the Champions League. Supporters called for changes, leading Fenway Sports Group to dismiss Arne Slot.
Andoni Iraola was appointed as the new manager following Slot’s departure. The World Cup pushes most transfer activity to after mid‑July, but contract discussions continue.
Ngumoha, 17, currently holds a contract that runs to 2028. Liverpool plan to offer fresh terms as soon as he reaches 18. He has appeared in 31 matches, totalling 1,065 minutes, and contributed three goals and one assist.
