Mourinho eyes Enzo Fernandez for Real Madrid midfield
Jose Mourinho is reported to be reviewing midfield options for Real Madrid. Enzo Fernandez has reappeared on Real Madrid’s shortlist after his earlier link to the club faded.
Before Mourinho’s appointment was confirmed, Real Madrid secured free‑agent signings of Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate. Florentino Perez completed those deals, reportedly after consulting the incoming manager.
Mourinho’s first move appears to be targeting Bernardo Silva, aiming to sign the Portuguese midfielder from FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. The club’s primary target for the midfield is West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes, with Manchester United also interested. Enzo Fernandez, the 25‑year‑old Argentine, offers tempo, passing range and experience at the highest level, a profile compared to Toni Kroos.
Chelsea have set a price tag of about €140 million for Fernandez, and he is under contract until 2032. Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has also expressed interest, adding competition for Real Madrid. Real Madrid must decide whether the investment matches the player’s potential.
