Pedro Porro Near Tottenham Deal, City Transfer Plans Shift

Pedro Porro is close to agreeing a long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur that runs until 2030, removing him from the transfer market. The deal ends Manchester City’s pursuit of the Spanish right-back. Tottenham have set a baseline fee of £50 million to open talks on Porro’s departure. Manager Roberto De Zerbi has stated the player is non‑transferable. Manchester City had monitored Porro as a potential summer addition to support Matheus Nunes at right‑back. Porro was on City’s books from 2019 to 2022 without making a senior appearance. Director of football Hugo Viana is a huge fan of Porro. City view Porro’s Premier League experience as ideal for the right‑back role under incoming manager Enzo Maresca. With Porro’s option gone, City director Hugo Viana must turn to alternative right‑back targets. Atalanta defender Marco Palestra is among the younger profiles City is considering. City is understood to be ready to make an offer for Palestra, with Atalanta holding out for a fee around €50 million. Inter Milan are also reported to be interested in Palestra. Feyenoord’s Givairo Read is another option on City’s shortlist. Matheus Nunes has impressed when deputising at right‑back last season, reducing pressure on City to spend heavily. The collapse of the Porro option is unlikely to derail City’s planned approach to strengthening the position.
