Roma reject €50m bids for Wesley and Svilar

Roma have rejected €50 million offers for goalkeeper Mile Svilar and Brazilian winger Wesley, refusing to sell their key players ahead of a settlement deadline on June 30 and while manager Gian Piero Gasperini seeks to boost the squad for the Champions League.

Roma’s refusal is aimed at avoiding the need to meet a settlement agreement by June 30, which would require off‑loading their strongest assets. The club therefore chose to keep both players despite lucrative offers.

Gian Piero Gasperini, the Grugliasco‑born manager, says the squad must improve to prevent a poor Champions League showing and to build on last season’s third‑place finish. He described Wesley and Svilar as two pillars of Roma’s future.

Chelsea made a determined move for the Brazilian winger Wesley, but after Roma’s firm refusal the English side redirected its attention to Atalanta’s Palestra. The interest highlights the high market value placed on the 2003‑born winger.

Manchester City also sought information on Wesley and received the same rejection from Roma. Both English clubs were told the player is not on the market.

Chelsea later presented a €50 million offer for goalkeeper Mile Svilar, who has been named Serie A’s best goalkeeper for two consecutive seasons. The bid was turned down by the Roman club.

Rejecting the €50 million proposal means Roma forwent a potential combined inflow of close to €100 million from both offers. The club’s decision underscores its commitment to retaining the two key players.
