Van Hanegem hails Brian Brobbey and Crysencio Summerville as Oranje stars
Dutch football legend Willem van Hanegem praised Brian Brobbey and Crysencio Summerville after the Netherlands’ emphatic victory over Sweden at the FIFA World Cup. Van Hanegem described Brobbey as ‘really good’ and highlighted his improved form since moving from Ajax to Sunderland. He noted that Brobbey now feels valued both in England and with the national team, adding that he could have scored a third goal had Memphis Depay played him in better.
Van Hanegem also lavished praise on Summerville, calling him a ‘very, very good footballer’ and questioning why he spent only a short time at Feyenoord. He argued that Summerville should now start every match and suggested he could be the standout discovery of the tournament. The former Oranje player reserved criticism for Virgil van Dijk, Micky van de Ven, Bart Verbruggen, and Tijjani Reijnders, calling out their performances and questioning Depay’s impact off the bench.
