AC Milan Players Feature in World Cup Highlights
AC Milan have ten players at the World Cup. Ecuador international Pervis Estupiñan scored with a long-range lob in a friendly against Guatemala, and Ecuador won 3-0. Croatia midfielder Luka Modrić also found the net in a friendly versus Slovenia and will turn his focus to Croatia's World Cup opener against England on 17 June.
Marco van Basten, despite his AC Milan and Netherlands pedigree, never made a mark at a World Cup. At the 1990 World Cup in Italy, coach Leo Beenhakker led a Netherlands side that suffered a disappointing campaign, including the dismissal of Frank Rijkaard and elimination by Germany in the round of 16, with van Basten physically below‑par.
Four years later, van Basten hoped an ankle injury would heal in time for the 1994 World Cup, but he ultimately abandoned the dream.
Brazilian Ronaldinho debuted at the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan at age 22. He contributed two goals and three assists as Brazil lifted the trophy, six years before his arrival at AC Milan.
The new AC Milan 2026/27 home kit is now available for purchase.
