Al‑Hilal’s €70 million splash secures Summerville’s signature
Crysencio Summerville has completed a move to Saudi Arabian giants Al‑Hilal, signing a four‑year contract on Thursday after West Ham United received a fee of around €70 million. The 24‑year‑old attacker, who impressed at the World Cup, will join the Saudi side on a lucrative deal that runs until 2030.
West Ham United will pocket approximately €70 million for the transfer, a sum that dwarfs the amount AS Roma was prepared to offer. The deal also includes a four‑year contract, although the player’s agreement extends to 2030.
Al‑Hilal’s ambition was evident in the mega bid they placed, coupled with a monster salary that eclipsed competing offers. Their financial muscle allowed them to outshine the Serie A‑club that had been in pole position for the signing.
AS Roma, sitting atop the Serie A table, tried to persuade Summerville to stay, but their overtures failed to change his mind. The Saudi club’s proposal proved irresistible.
The transfer is now fully completed, with Summerville having signed his contract on Thursday. The transfer was confirmed today, and only the clubs remain to make the official announcement.
Summerville progressed through the Feyenoord academy before loan spells at FC Dordrecht and ADO Den Haag. He later impressed at Leeds United, earning a move to West Ham United for roughly €30 million.
During the summer, Summerville broke into the Netherlands national team, featuring in four World Cup matches where he scored twice and provided two assists.
