Alf-Inge Haaland backs Enzo Maresca as City’s new manager

Alf-Inge Haaland said the transition marks a new chapter for Manchester City after Pep Guardiola’s decade‑long tenure. Speaking to , Alfie Haaland added, “No one can replace Pep Guardiola, but it’s a new chapter for Manchester City. It looks like Enzo Maresca will replace him. He’s a good choice, even though he’s had a difficult season. I think he’ll get along well with Erling, and it’s a new era.”

Enzo Maresca endured a turbulent, fragmented season at Chelsea before departing the club. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach at Manchester City, gaining experience under Pep Guardiola.

The official administrative handover is expected to be completed in the coming days. Maresca is slated to begin his duties at the City Football Academy imminently.

Erling Haaland recorded a second successive World Cup brace against Senegal at MetLife Stadium. The performance helped Norway draw with France in Group I and made Haaland his country’s all‑time leading World Cup goalscorer.

Manchester City are closing in on a record‑shattering package for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. At the same time, Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be interested in Brazilian winger Savinho.

Maresca’s commitment to expansive, positionally fluid attacking play was praised by Pep Guardiola. The tactical approach is seen as a match for maximising Erling’s off‑the‑ball movement and penalty‑box efficiency.
