Anderlecht receives €8,000 fine, barred from fans at Union games

RSC Anderlecht has been hit with a €8,000 fine and a ban on taking its supporters to any away matches against Union Saint‑Gilloise next season, following riots after the Croky Cup final at King Baudouin Stadium. The disciplinary committee of the Belgian Football Association imposed the sanction after damage to seats, infrastructure and fire pits was recorded in the stadium.

The committee ruled that Anderlecht must play all future away fixtures versus Union – whether league, cup or friendly – without its own fans. This applies to matches at Union’s Dudenpark stadium.

The €8,000 fine was described by the committee as a direct consequence of the post‑final incidents. The amount was levied in addition to the travel‑restriction measure.

City of Brussels officials reported significant damage in King Baudouin Stadium, including destroyed seats, damaged infrastructure and the presence of fire pits. The initial assessment confirmed the extent of the vandalism.

The sanction is provisional; Anderlecht can lodge an appeal with the disciplinary council for professional football. If the club chooses to appeal, the case will be transferred for further review.

Should the appeal fail, Anderlecht will have to play its derby matches away from home without any supporter presence at Dudenpark. The absence of fan support could intensify the already heated rivalry between the two clubs.

The decision has sparked debate within Belgian football, as the Croky Cup final is traditionally a season highlight. The disciplinary action underscores the governing body’s stance on supporter misconduct.
